Warwickshire County Council Announces Overnight Road Closures on Straight Mile and Rugby Road
Warwickshire County Council has confirmed phased overnight closures on Straight Mile and Rugby Road from January to March 2026 to allow essential A45 drainage works. Diversions will be signed, and access maintained where possible.

Warwickshire County Council has announced a series of planned overnight road closures affecting Straight Mile, Bourton on Dunsmore and Rugby Road, Blue Boar, Dunchurch. These closures are required to carry out essential drainage works on the A45 network.
The works will take place in phases and will operate overnight between 8pm and 6am, beginning on 6 January 2026. The affected roads and closure periods are:
Straight Mile (A4071 junction to A45)
- Phase 1: 6 January – 20 January 2026
- Phase 2: 19 February – 5 March 2026
Rugby Road (A4071 Rugby Road to A45)
- Phase 1: 20 January – 19 February 2026
- Phase 2: 5 March – 12 March 2026
Works are expected to be fully completed by 12 March 2026.
Signed diversion routes will be in place throughout the works. For Straight Mile closures, diversions will use the Blue Boar Flyover, Rugby Road, M45, M1, M6, A46, and A45.
For Rugby Road closures, the diversion will follow Straight Mile, the A45, A46, M6, M1, and M45.
Vehicular access will be maintained where possible for residents and businesses.
