Rugby Borough Council elections are taking place on Thursday 7 May. Here's everything Dunchurch residents need to know about voting, including polling station details, ID requirements and key deadlines.

Published: 20 April 2026

What’s being decided?

This election is for district councillors who represent the people of their ward on Rugby Borough Council. Councillors serve four-year terms, and as this council elects one third of its councillors each year, you will have one vote to choose from five candidates.

If you live in Dunchurch, you are part of the Dunsmore ward. There are five candidates standing in this ward. You can find more information about each candidate here:

District councils are responsible for many services that affect daily life, including:

  • Rubbish collection and recycling
  • Housing and planning
  • Sports facilities and public parks

Councils are funded through a combination of council tax, business rates and government grants. Councillors are not paid a salary but receive financial compensation and expenses to cover their time and travel commitments.
