Severn Trent Begins Cawston Lane Pumping Station Upgrade
Severn Trent has begun work to upgrade the sewage pumping station on Cawston Lane, Rugby. The project will support local growth and improve the resilience of the wastewater network.
Published: 18 October 2026
About the project
The work involves replacing the existing sewage pumping station with a larger facility. Severn Trent says the upgrade will help support local river health and provide a more resilient wastewater network for the future.
Following some initial delays, work began in October 2026. Construction compound areas were established on Cawston Lane and Cawston Grange Drive from Monday 12 October, with initial enabling works preparing the areas for the main construction programme.
The project is currently expected to continue until autumn 2027.
Access and traffic
Severn Trent has advised that road closures will be required at a later stage of the project. Dates have not yet been confirmed.
Pedestrian access and access for residents of Lime Tree Village are expected to be maintained throughout the works.
