Flood Action Week is an annual campaign led by the Environment Agency, running from 12 to 18 October 2026. The campaign brings together organisations and communities across England to raise awareness of flood risks and encourage people to take practical steps to prepare, particularly ahead of the winter months.

Dunchurch Parish Council is sharing this information as part of the wider campaign, helping residents access official advice and resources to understand their flood risk and prepare for potential flooding.

How to prepare for flooding

The Environment Agency encourages people to take practical steps to understand their risk and be ready should flooding occur.

Residents can:

  • Check their flood risk to find out whether their home or local area could be affected.
  • Sign up for flood warnings to receive alerts and allow time to prepare.
  • Make a household flood plan, including what to do and where to go if flooding threatens their home.
  • Prepare an emergency grab bag containing essential items in case they need to leave at short notice.
  • Keep up to date with official flood warnings and weather alerts during periods of heavy rainfall.

Taking action before flooding happens can help people respond more safely and reduce the potential impact on their homes and families.
