Heatwave Advice for Residents as Temperatures Rise Across the Region

Residents are being encouraged to take extra care this week as high temperatures continue across our area, with hot and humid conditions expected to remain over the coming days.

According to the Met Office, temperatures across parts of England are expected to reach the mid to high 30s, with very warm overnight temperatures also making conditions more challenging, particularly for vulnerable residents.

Periods of extreme heat can affect everyone, but older people, young children, those with underlying health conditions, and anyone working or spending long periods outdoors may be especially at risk.

The Parish Council is encouraging residents to take sensible precautions during the hot weather, including:

• Drinking plenty of water throughout the day
• Keeping homes cool by closing curtains or blinds in direct sunlight
• Avoiding strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day
• Using sunscreen and wearing light, loose-fitting clothing outdoors

We also encourage residents to check in on elderly neighbours, vulnerable family members, and others in the community who may need extra support. A simple phone call or visit can make a real difference during periods of extreme heat.

Please also remember to take care around water, supervise children closely, and never leave children, vulnerable adults, or pets in parked vehicles, even for a short time.
