The Visitor Site Manager has issued the following statement:
‘We wanted to have a system that provided a better experience for those that visited and helped us to better manage the site. The ANPR system allows people to pay in lots of different ways (card, cash, online or by app) and they also pay at the end of their visit which we know from feedback has been welcomed by our visitors- no more guessing how long they will be on site! An ANPR system also allows us to better manage our car parks as we will have better data and understand how people use our site better, it will also help with things like anti-social behaviour. We know that the majority of visitors will pay for their parking when on site, however there are a few that don’t. The income from parking is very important; it helps towards the cost of running and maintaining our sites- ensuring as little money as possible comes from our customer’s bills. We wanted a system that was fair so that those that use the site pay towards its upkeep.
We don’t want to make money from fining people- the lowest fine covers our costs to send the letter and the amount lost in car park revenue. For repeat offenders the fine escalates as we are keen on ensuring that everyone pays towards the site upkeep and management- this helps us to keep investing in our sites and ensuring our customers water bills are kept as low as we can.
We also have a great value annual permit, this is currently priced at just £37 for a years parking. You can find out more about this on our website, if anyone in your community would like to purchase one that can do this by calling our team at Carsington Water on 0330 6780 701.
Most visitors won’t notice any difference when on site except for paying when they have finished their visit and the new machines when they pay. We hope that this new system will provide a much better experience for everyone who visits Draycote Water. If you do have any questions or would like to find out any more information please contact me on the details above.’
